Wright Tool has hot-forged wrenches and sockets in Barberton, Ohio since 1927, and the about page names the plant rather than just the country. It goes further than most and quantifies the claim: over 99% of Wright-branded products are manufactured in the USA.

“Over 99%” turns out not to be a rounding statement. The next two sentences of the same footer say what the remainder is — “The less than 1% of Wright branded products manufactured outside the USA still meet our strict quality standards. Country of origin is always disclosed on the product, packaging, and/or product page” — and Wright keeps that promise. Every product table on the site has a Country of Origin column with a value in it.

Read all 696 of them and 48 come back non-US. The whole chrome adjustable-wrench range, 9AC04 up to 9AC30, reads SPAIN. The 1“ x 30’ steel tape reads CHINA, with “(Made in China)” written into the part description, while the four tapes beside it read UNITED STATES. The rest is a scatter of scrapers, mirrors, goggles, pickup tools and locking pliers from China, Taiwan, Canada, Malaysia and Mexico.

So this is a split line after all, and the brand’s mark is the floor. The Barberton forgings — which really are almost the whole catalogue — carry their own marks below.

Wright deserves the credit for making this findable. Most brands in this position say “over 99%” and stop. Wright says what the remainder is and then labels it, SKU by SKU, on the page where you buy it. Check the Country of Origin column and the question is answered before you add to cart.
