William Ellery is a small outdoor and workwear label run by Trevor Davis from a studio in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It makes shirts, hats, bags, jeans and socks in small batches, often from reworked vintage or deadstock material. The brand says it designs and produces in Brooklyn, and Highsnobiety and Hypebeast both describe the East Williamsburg studio and Davis’s practice of making things in the US where possible.
It is a split line. The Weekender — a heavyweight knit rugby shirt, in six colourways — is made in Canada, and the Brushtail possum and merino socks are made in New Zealand, both under the William Ellery name. So the brand’s mark here is the floor, and the Brooklyn-made shirts, hats, jeans and bags are carried below with their own marks and their own quoted origin lines.
Fabric origin is mixed even on the domestic pieces: some denim is woven in Pennsylvania, while several shirts and hats use Japanese or Peruvian cloth and a good deal of the material is reworked vintage. That is why those pieces sit at the second mark rather than the first. The listings state it plainly either way — “Made in NYC, USA”, “Made in Canada”, “Made in New Zealand”.
