Vermont Soap has made cold-process bar soap in Middlebury since 1992, and is straightforward in a way that makes verification short work: the contact page gives the manufacturing facility’s street address, the footer says Made in Vermont, and a separate page names the countries the palm, coconut, cocoa butter and tea tree oil come from.
That last page is the reason this is the second mark rather than the first, and it is also the best thing about the record. Brazil, the Philippines, Australia — the company published the answer before anyone asked, which is the opposite of the usual pattern, where an American-made banner sits above an ingredient list nobody will trace.
The soap is made here. The oils are not, and the company will tell you so.
