Thorlo

Thorlo has made padded socks in North Carolina since 1953 and is one of the names people reach for first when they think of American-made socks. We have not been able to verify that with a source we would be willing to stand behind, so this record sits at the fourth mark rather than the first.

What we found: the only manufacturing statement on the site is a line in the page footer — “© 2026 Thorlo® The Original Padded Sock - Made in the USA.” A footer trademark line is a brand assertion, not a substantiated claim, and it does not say which products it covers or where they are made beyond the country.

The site also keeps a separate “Made In USA” collection for men’s and women’s socks. A brand that sells everything domestically has no reason to sort a subset into that collection, so the existence of it suggests the rest of the range may not qualify — though nothing on the site says so outright, and we are not going to assert it on an inference.

This is a mark we would like to move. If Thorlo publishes a manufacturing statement naming a facility, or tells us which lines are domestic, the record gets upgraded and dated the same day.
