Lucchese has made cowboy boots since 1883, first in San Antonio and, since 1986, in its own factory in El Paso, Texas. The hand-built western boots that make up most of the boot catalogue are marked “Handmade in Texas”, and the El Paso factory is independently documented.

It is a split line, and Lucchese’s own FAQ spells it out: “In addition to manufacturing from our own factory in El Paso, Texas, Lucchese partners with factories around the world that excel in their trade.” The Frontier Tech work boots are made in a partner factory in China, other styles in Brazil and Mexico, and there is a Made in Italy collection. All of them are Lucchese boots. So the brand’s mark here is the floor, and the El Paso boots are carried below with their own marks and their own quoted listings.

Those boots sit at the second mark rather than the first because the cowhide and the exotic skins are not placed — the page says where the boot was built, not where the leather came from. About 160 boot listings state no origin at all, and most of the apparel and accessories give none either. The three words that settle it on a listing are “Handmade in Texas”.
