Lamson started in 1837 in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, as Lamson & Goodnow, and it is one of the oldest cutlery makers in the country. After a Chapter 11 reorganisation it moved its factory to Westfield, Massachusetts in 2015. The old Shelburne Falls site still has the outlet store.

What Lamson makes in Massachusetts depends on the line, and the product pages say which. The Vintage knives are made from US high-carbon stainless steel that is cut, ground, polished and sharpened in the Massachusetts plant. The walnut-handled turners and kitchen tools are “crafted in the USA” from American stainless. Those are the listings below that carry the top mark.

The Premier Forged knives are different. Their blades are hot-drop forged from Solingen steel and fitted with imported hardwood or acrylic handles, then polished and sharpened in Massachusetts. That is American finishing on imported parts, and it is the second mark — the same page that names the German steel also gives the knife its own spec row reading “Country of Origin : USA”.

What puts the brand’s mark at the floor is a different thing again. The silicone HotSpot trivets are imported outright: their own listing ends “Imported from China”, and the same spec row that says “USA” on the Premier Forged knife says “CHINA” on the trivet. The walnut knife blocks and a few accessories are in the same position. All of them carry the Lamson name and the same lifetime warranty, so the brand badge is the floor and each Massachusetts tool carries its own mark below.

Lamson makes this easy on itself and on a buyer: the answer is in the spec table on the page, in one field, and the field is maintained.
