Field’s whole premise is that mid-century American cast iron was thinner, lighter and smoother than what the market sells now, and that the gap is a manufacturing problem rather than a lost art. The answer they landed on is a domestic green-sand pour in Wisconsin followed by CNC machining of the cooking surface at an Indiana shop that specialises in finishing castings.

That split is the interesting part of the record. Field has no factory of its own; it has a design, a pattern, and a set of American suppliers. The claim still holds — every step named is in the United States, and the description comes from the design firm that set the process up rather than from the brand’s copywriter — but “made in the USA” here means a coordinated domestic supply chain, not a building with the company’s name on it.

The candidate list had Field in Moundsville, WV. Its own site puts headquarters in the Hudson Valley of New York and production across Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin, with no West Virginia connection anywhere we could find. The list has been corrected.
