Nine days later the plant's entire production line was sold on site at public auction, lot by lot, over a week: the wire electrical discharge machines, fourteen CNC turning centres, the wire drawers and benders, the heat-treat lines, the punch presses and the injection molders. No buyer took the brand and the tooling elsewhere, no successor company was found, and no production has been traced to any other address. Eklind Tool made hex keys and folding drivers from 1923, and moved into a 110,000 square-foot plant in Franklin Park, Illinois in 1996. Its Made-in-USA page named that factory and its hundred-plus employees rather than just the country, which is the difference between a claim you can check and one you take on faith — and the factory was the only one the company had.
It is closed. In June 2026 Eklind filed a plant-closure notice with the State of Illinois covering the Franklin Park factory and all 112 jobs in it, with layoffs from 10 August. That much was a statement of intent, and intentions get withdrawn, so it was checked.
