Danner is the marquee split-line record on this site, and to the company’s credit it is a split Danner documents itself. Every product page carries a “Manufacturing” field with one of three values, each with Danner’s own definition attached: Made in USA (built top to bottom in Portland), Made in USA with Imported Components (some construction done overseas, uppers formed and bottoms built by hand in Portland), and Imported.

That last value is on the Trail 2650, which is one of the boots most likely to be bought by someone who chose Danner because they wanted an American boot. Nothing about the name, the price or the branding separates it from the Mountain Light. Only the spec field does.

So the brand’s mark here is the floor, and the exceptions are recorded per product below with their own evidence. That is the honest shape of this brand: a real Portland factory making real American boots, inside a catalogue that also sells imports under the same name.

Two things a buyer should carry away. First, the field is on the page — check “Manufacturing” before you buy and the question is settled in one glance. Second, “Made in USA with Imported Components” is not the same claim as “Made in USA”, and Danner does not pretend otherwise; the boots in that middle band are partly built abroad and finished in Oregon.

On ownership: Danner belongs to LaCrosse Footwear, which has been owned by ABC-Mart of Tokyo since 2012. The factory and the bootmakers are in Portland. The company is not American-owned, which is worth knowing given the name of the mark this record carries.
