Coming of Age, sold as COA NYC, is a bag and clothing label that designer Amanda Lurie started in 2019. It is known for gingham silk taffeta and iridescent nylon bags, and has added trousers, dresses, tops and slippers. The brand’s about page says it works with women-run manufacturers in Manhattan’s Garment District, and nearly every product page ends with “handmade in new york”.
Trade press confirms the label and its New York base, but none of it says where the pieces are sewn, and no manufacturer is named. The fabrics are imported: the nylon is Japanese by the brand’s own account, and the silk taffeta is described as Indian. This record stays at the fourth mark.
